If you haven’t tried crispy pancakes like this before, then we need to change that. Please take this as your sign to do so now.

These are a popular food throughout the Balkans and you might have seen me make them before. They’re called “pohovane slane palacinke” - which literally means “breaded savoury pancakes”.

We often translate them as pancakes but they are so different from the thick American style pancakes, they are much more a classic crepe!

A crepe which is filled with sliced ham and cheese, coated in breadcrumbs and then shallow fried till crispy and golden brown. Simple and straightforward, but the outcome is a sensational one.

This recipe is a two in one kinda situation, because you’ll get a recipe for the vegan crepes (which will make you realise that you really don’t need eggs at all) and you’ll get a recipe for the actual star of the show. Lucky you ;)
